Gary Bushorn is a fictional character in the Wild Cards series of books.
After being drawn into Gregg Hartmann's campaign to prevent the release of the Black Trump virus, Gary Bushorn was forced to bail out of his aircraft over Ireland. Washing up on the island of Rathlin, he befriended a local woman, Caitlyn, and her young daughter. Authorities were intent on bringing him in to face prosecution over the Black Trump incident however, although by proving he was as much a part of the joker community as he was a deuce, he was allowed to stay on the island in exile.
Gary was exonerated in 1998, by presidential pardon, but after three years of living on Rathlin, he found that it had become as much a home to him as New York had once been.
Wild Card Traits Edit
Gary's body produces excessive amounts of heat. He can concentrate heat into his extremities to produce a small flame, although the effect burns and blisters his flesh as he has no resistance to his own fire. Fortunately the damage to himself is offset by minor regenerative ability which is enough to cause severely burned flesh to gradually repair in a matter of hours.
Gary is dark skinned with short dark hair and brown eyes. His wild card overheats his body, often causing him to sweat profusely. Under increased emotional stress his tears may even cause steam to emanate from his eyes.
For better or for worse, Gary always tries to square his debts, even when repaying a favour endangers him.
