Imp is a fictional minor character in the Wild Cards series of books.
Imp was among the Astronomer's group of aces in 1986 when the Astronomer plotted a number of assassinations against the aces that had defeated him some months earlier. Imp and Insulin operated together as partners in the Astronomer's mad scheme and their target was to be the Turtle. Imp's role had him fly a hang glider close to the Turtle's shell and overload its camera gear, thus effectively blinding the ace inside. With the shell's systems incapacitated, Imp followed up his wild card attack with a small bombardment of napalm, which sent the Turtle plunging into the Hudson River.
Later that same day, Imp, Insulin, and Demise captured three women to use as human sacrifices to fuel the Astronomer's power. When Demise killed the first one prematurely, the Astronomer had Imp prepare the next one, Cordelia Chaisson. It was at this point the fear of the situation caused the girl's ace to turn and she unwittingly stopped Imp's heart, leaving him dying on the floor.
Wild Card TraitsEdit
Imp has the ability to generate an electromagnetic pulse that can overload and burn out electronic components within a wide radius.
