The Joker Anti-Defamation League is a fictional organization from the Wild Cards series of books.

Background HistoryEdit

The Joker Anti-Defamation League is the oldest of three and only non-violent Joker's rights organizations. Unlike the Twisted Fists or the Jokers for a Just Society, the JADL works within the political system by attempting to elect politicians at the local, state and national level who are sympathetic to joker needs.

They also try to bring economic pressure to bear against those who discriminate against jokers. They sometimes resort to non-violent protests like marches, boycotts, or, in rare instances, sit-ins.

The group's founder, Xavier Desmond continued as its president until 1984, when he stepped down because of ill health. He continued to have considerable influence over the policies of the JADL until his death on July 16, 1987.
