The Librarian is a fictional character from the Wild Cards series of books.

Although described as an ace, Harvey was little more than a deuce. He was physically unimposing and didn't have the right frame of mind to work in the field. This is what eventually got him killed.

History[]

The Librarian was involved in the attempt to rescue hostages from Iran in 1980. The team led by (J. Robert Belew, Amy Mears, Jay Ackroyd, Lady Black, and a 20-year-old University of Michigan student on his first government mission named Billy Ray) was betrayed by the people who set up the mission – O.K. Casaday in particular. The whole mission was a plot by the Card Sharks to kill some wild cards while discrediting then President Jimmy Carter.

Harvey was 'popped' away from the raid when he sustained non-life threatening wounds to his legs. J. Robert Belew later discovered that he was reported to have died from exsanguination resulting from an insult to the arteria femoris, that meant that he was allowed to die by the people who were supposed to look after him.

Wild Card Traits[]

Harvey is Deuce with the power to project a zone of silence around him for a radius of about 5 metres.

Appearance[]

Librarian is a little, balding man with thick, round spectacles, can only talk in a whisper, and has usually had his head stuck in a book.
