Zero Man is a minor character in the Wild Cards series of books.
Little is known of the history of the ace known as Zero Man. After turning his ace he developed a reputation as a ninja and came into the employ of a small Yakuza clan in Tokyo. His reputation as an unseen force alone built the small clan into group to be feared.
Zero Man was given a mission to first harass, and then kill, Hiram Worchester as the final act in an escalating debt situation after Worchester inadvertently ran afoul of the Yakuza. He was surprised in the act of carrying out his midnight hit by the intervention of Fortunato, who had the power to both detect him and stop him. Fortunato applied such excessive force in wrenching the young assassin's sword free, that it neatly sliced off the top of his head, killing him instantly.
Wild Card TraitsEdit
Zero Man had the power to render himself invisible to the perception of others. It has been hinted that this was the result of an ability to blank part of people's awareness, rather than the manipulation of light. He was also capable of cloaking an unspecified amount of additional mass as he was able to render his clothing and sword invisible as well.
Zero Man died a young man, barely more than a boy, and was of East Asian appearance. He was wearing a white shirt, grey trousers, and had bare feet at the time.
